Boeing has reportedly reached a tentative deal with the Justice Department to avoid having to plead guilty for violating the terms of a criminal settlement connected to the 737 Max crashes in 2018 and 2019 that killed more than 300 people.
But Boeing has largely avoided criminal prosecution. Boeing reached a deal with the Justice Department regarding its criminal investigation in January 2021 and was placed on corporate probation.
Boeing previously agreed to plead guilty to charges that employees lied to air safety regulators before the crashes, also agreeing to pay $2.5 billion to resolve the criminal investigation.
