Tens of thousands of people rallied across Illinois Saturday in organized protests against the Trump administration. Our Revolution activist James Rodriguez said groups in over 2,000 cities around the country were standing up to President Donald Trump.
Thousands of demonstrators from the Champaign-Urbana area gathered outside the Champaign County Courthouse in response to a national call for protests against President Donald Trump on Saturday afternoon.
Several of the protests appeared to be family events, with lawn chairs, flags, dogs and kids. The Missouri National Guard were not reported at the rallies.
Leaders of the “ No Kings ” movement say June 14 will be a nationwide day of defiance, against what they call “authoritarianism,” “billionaire-first politics,” and the “militarization of our democracy.” It is estimated 2,000 demonstrations will take place across the country, including in downtown Rockford, Freeport, Oregon and DeKalb.
