The National Weather Service says parts of south Alabama could expect several inches of snow on Tuesday, and winter storm watches have been issued for many areas. Dangerously cold temperatures are expected statewide tonight and for the next few days, and an extreme cold warning has been issued -- and expanded -- for several areas.

With a winter storm forecasted for Friday, the Alabama National Guard is being deployed to parts of central and northern Alabama.

The state has seen two outbreaks of winter weather that impacted north and south Alabama with several inches of snow.

South Alabama could get up to 4 inches of snow today, according to the National Weather Service, and winter storm warnings will be in effect through today. North Alabama and the northern part of central Alabama aren’t expected to see any accumulating snow today,
