The Calgary Flames made their first move of the NHL trade deadline, acquiring forward Ryan Strome from the Anaheim Ducks in exchange for a 2027 seventh-round draft pick, as reported by Sportsnet’s Elliotte Friedman.
The Washington Capitals traded longtime defenseman John Carlson to the Anaheim Ducks early Friday morning in one of the surprise moves of the NHL trade deadline. At least on the surface.
“The conditional first-round pick shall be Anaheim’s 2026 first-round pick,” Friedman shared. “If Anaheim fails to qualify for the 2026 NHL Stanley Cup Playoffs, then Anaheim will retain its 2026 first-round pick and shall instead transfer its 2027 first-round pick to Washington (subject to the Option below).
The Anaheim Ducks acquired veteran defenseman John Carlson through a trade with the Washington Capitals, the NHL franchises announced Friday.
The Ducks (34-24-3) keep the homestand going by welcoming the Canadiens (33-18-9) to Honda Center. Puck drop is set for 6 p.m. PT and will air on KCOP-13 and Victory+.
