Tuesday's Cheez-It Citrus Bowl marked the end of bowl season in Orlando. The city hosted three bowl games, which is more than any other this season.

It’s gameday in the Sunshine State, and there’s a lot on the line for the South Carolina Gamecocks in the Cheez-It Citrus Bowl. South Carolina (9-3) is trying to win its 10th football game in a season for the fifth time ever.

The Illini rallied three times before overcoming the Gamecocks in the Cheez-It Citrus Bowl thanks to two touchdowns by Josh McCray.

And in the 2024 Cheez-It Citrus Bowl taking place in Orlando, we’ve got South Carolina playing against Illinois — the Gamecocks are ranked No. 15 in the country, and Illinois comes into this game at No. 20. That was it — Illinois had a 10-win football team for the first time since 2001, a bowl win for the first time since 2011 and arguably its biggest win in any game since the 2007 upset at No. 1 Ohio State.

The South Carolina Gamecocks played the Illinois Fighting Illini at the Cheez-It Citrus Bowl in Orlando. The event, part of Orlando's three bowl games this year, has generated an estimated $100 million for the local economy.

Josh McCray scored his second touchdown of the game on a 9-yard run midway through the fourth quarter to give No. 21 Illinois the lead, and the Illini held on to beat No. 14 South Carolina 21-17 in the Cheez-It Citrus Bowl.

South Carolina finished the season as a trendy team with some momentum. Will that carry over to bowl season against Illinois?

The No. 15 South Carolina Gamecocks (9-3) will face the No. 20 Illinois Fighting Illni (9-3) in the Cheez-it Citrus Bowl in Orlando, Florida. The game is scheduled for 3 p.m. ET/12 p.m. PT on Dec. 31.
