New Mexico has agreed to a five-year deal to make UC San Diego's Eric Olen the school's next head coach, sources told ESPN's Pete Thamel on Sunday. Olen led UC San Diego to the NCAA tournament this year in the first season the school was eligible.

New Mexico has hired UC San Diego’s Eric Olen as its next basketball coach. Olen will replace Richard Pitino, who left to become Xavier’s coach on Tuesday.

Olen's team broke through with 30 wins this season and reached the NCAA Tournament, losing to Michigan in the first round.
