Israel has carried out air strikes against Houthi targets in Yemen's capital, Sanaa, in response to the group's missile attack on Friday which the Israel military said carried cluster munitions. The Israeli operation targeted a military complex housing the presidential palace, a fuel depot and power stations.

Israel struck Yemen’s Houthis on Sunday after the Iran-backed rebels fired a new type of missile at Israel. The Israeli military said it struck a military site where the presidential palace is located, as well as two power plants and a fuel storage site.

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, speaking from the Air Force command centre in Tel Aviv, vowed to intensify operations against the Iran-backed Houthis, who have been launching missiles and drones toward Israel and attacking ships in the Red Sea for nearly two years.
