James Beard Restaurant and Chef Awards were held Monday in Chicago. Half a dozen New York finalists were in the running for top honors, along with five chefs who battled it out for best in the state.

James Beard Award results are in, and this Minnesota restaurant serving up French-American cuisine with Midwestern hospitality won Best New Restaurant.

New York City restaurants won three of the six major national awards: outstanding chef (Jungsik Yim of Jungsik ), outstanding hospitality ( Atomix) and outstanding restaurateur (Lee Hanson and Riad Nasr of Frenchette, Le Rock and Le Veau d’Or ).
