First responders in northern Michigan will be getting help from out-of-state.The State of Michigan secured out-of-state support through the Emergency Management Assistance Compact (EMAC) to help accelerate recovery efforts after a historic ice storm devastated northern Michigan last month.

Gov. Gretchen Whitmer has formally requested a presidential emergency declaration on the March 28-30 ice storm.

Some electricity customers in 12 northern Michigan counties hit hard by the late March ice storm could be eligible for credits from their provider.
