Human remains found in the Prairie Green landfill near Winnipeg, Canada, have been identified as those of Morgan Beatrice Harris of Long Plain First Nation, one of at least four women linked to a serial killer who targeted Indigenous women, the Royal Canadian Mounted Police have confirmed.

Manitoba Premier Wab Kinew commends the family of Morgan Harris for their advocacy and strength in never giving up on their mother, after her remains were found in the Prairie Green landfill in a search that began three years after she was murdered.

Manitoba says the remains discovered at the Prairie Green Landfill on Feb. 26 are those of Morgan Harris who has been missing since 2022.

This discovery comes three months into the search, which was previously deemed too complicated by the former provincial government. Cambria Harris, Morgan’s daughter, shared on social media, saying, “It’s a bittersweet moment.

The decision to search a landfill near Winnipeg had become a political issue in the western Canadian province, largely because the victims were all Indigenous women.
