Nick Nurse is hopeful VJ Edgecombe can return sooner rather than later from a calf injury that has sidelined him for the past three games.
To Nurse's point, it isn't just the Embiid and George factors. The Sixers are also dealing with injuries to Kelly Oubre Jr., VJ Edgecombe, and Trendon Watford. They just got Adem Bona back from a right ankle sprain against Brooklyn, but then lost Andre Drummond to a right knee sprain, so that leaves the rotation thin on a nightly basis.

VJ Edgecombe returned to practice on Wednesday after missing the last two games with a calf injury, coach Nick Nurse said.
After the game, head coach Nick Nurse explained that Maxey originally suffered the injury in the first half and was evaluated at halftime, but still managed to suit up and finish the contest. He added that there were no further updates (h/t Austin Krell of On Pattinson).
