A Powerball ticket sold in Texas won $1 million, but just missed the $20 million jackpot, lottery officials say. The tickets matched five winning numbers, but not the Powerball, in the drawing Monday, Jan. 20, the national Powerball site said.

People using Texas Lottery self-service vending machines now need to scan their government-issued photo ID before purchasing games or redeeming prizes to prove they are at least 18.

Two Texas residents claimed $1 million prizes from lottery games, according to the Texas Lottery. A Round Rock resident won with a Mega Millions ticket purchased at 7-Eleven, at 1315 N. Collins St. in Arlington.

Two more Texas residents become millionaires in a string of Texas Lottery wins across the state since the new year.

The commission has introduced a new age verification measure for self-service vending machines to prevent the sale of lottery tickets to minors.

There were no tickets sold matching all six numbers in Monday evening’s drawing of the multi-state Powerball lottery. One ticket was sold matching five numbers but not the Powerball in Texas and is worth $1 million.
