The “country boy from Virginia” has finally been enshrined among the greats of Major League Baseball. Former Ferrum College star Billy Wagner was inducted into the National Baseball Hall of Fame at a Sunday afternoon ceremony outside the Clark Sports Center.

Billy Wagner won’t be inducted into the National Baseball Hall of Fame until Sunday. But the former Ferrum College great was already emotional Saturday, a good 24 hours before the induction ceremony.

The Baseball Hall of Fame’s Class of 2025 was officially inducted at Cooperstown, New York on Sunday. Ichiro Suzuki, CC Sabathia, Billy Wagner and the families of the late Dave Parker and Dick Allen gave speeches before they were honored with plaques commemorating their legendary baseball careers.
