Crews fighting an outbreak of wildfires in northern Minnesota were hoping to get a break with the expected arrival of cooler, wetter weather on Sunday evening. The largest fires were burning along the North Shore near Two Harbors and near Crosslake in the Brainerd Lakes area.
A wildfire near Flanders Lake is forcing evacuations in Crosslake, covering over 1000 acres and prompting the community center to serve as a shelter for displaced residents.
The Minnesota DNR issued a Red Flag Warning for 54 counties in Minnesota until 9 p.m. Friday.
