The latest forecasts spare Florida from any snow or sleet but "bitterly cold temperatures" are coming behind the front.
Temperatures in some locations around Florida dropped almost 30 degrees over the last 24 hours.
The National Weather Service in Melbourne has issued a freeze warning for parts of Central Florida for overnight into Tuesday morning with forecast temperatures expected to fall into the lower 30s.
A strong northerly wind is bringing the cold across Florida, with temperatures this morning in the low 40s on the Treasure Coast and low 50s in the Palm Beaches
The front moves into Central Florida from the northwest to the southeast, bringing scattered showers (30–50%) and gusty winds. Winds turn breezy from the west and northwest in the afternoon, gusting up to 25 mph.
Forecasters across the board are warning about ice buildups that are “downright scary”, according to Weather Channel meteorologist Jim Cantore.
