The first holiday of the year was just a couple of weeks ago, with banks and big retailers closed on New Year’s Day. Now, Martin Luther King Jr. Day is here — and it happens to coincide with President-elect Donald Trump’s Inauguration Day.

Monday commemorates the birthday of the Rev. Martin Luther King Jr. This year, the holiday coincides with Trump’s inauguration, though the majority of business closures will be for MLK Day.

While UP won’t be hosting classes on Monday, Jan. 20, in honor of Martin Luther King Jr. Day, UP’s celebration of King’s legacy will continue from Jan. 18 to 23 with a week of on- and off-campus MLK Day ON events, including service opportunities.
