SuperHeroHype on MSNBest MCU Watch Order (Updated: August 2025)
The initial chapters of the MCU were pretty straightforward. The only change we recommend from the release order is to watch Captain America: The First Avenger first. It’s the earliest movie chronologically, and introduces the big plot device of Phase One: the Tesseract. After that, it’s a swift run-up to the first ensemble movie, The Avengers.
There are a couple of main ways to approach an MCU rewatch though if you want to have some sense of order. You can either watch everything in the order they were released, or you can watch everything in chronological order which will require some jumping around the various Marvel Phases.
If you missed Thunderbolts in theaters or want to see it again, it's coming to Disney+. The film will be available for streaming on Disney+ starting Wednesday, Aug. 27. Streaming will start at 10 p.m. MT, midnight ET, Tuesday, Aug. 26.
There are now 37 Marvel movies to watch in order and countless Disney Plus series, including the recent Eyes of Wakanda. In short, watching the MCU from start to finish has just become even trickier.
