OG Anunoby returned to the New York Knicks' starting lineup Friday night after missing nine games with a strained left hamstring. Anunoby was hurt early in a victory over Miami on Nov. 14. He warmed up before the game against Utah before the Knicks decided he was healthy enough to play.
Utah has listed Jusuf Nurkic as questionable due to a right rib contusion and he is in danger of missing his second consecutive contest after sitting out Thursday’s victory over the Nets. If Nurkic is sidelined once again, Kyle Filipowski will likely draw another start in his place while Kyle Anderson could have an increased role off the bench.
The Knicks netted the first 23 points of the game and led by 28 through one quarter before cruising to a thorough annihilation of the Jazz.
Rookie Dylan Harper (three points, 1-11 FG, six assists) struggled in his sixth game back from a calf injury. De’Aaron Fox (25 points, 9-19 FG) has now recorded 25-plus points in nine of his last 10 games.
BOTTOM LINE: New York will try to keep its four-game home win streak alive when the Knicks take on Utah. The Knicks have gone 11-1 at home. New York is sixth in the NBA averaging 120.2 points and is shooting 47.2% from the field.
Jalen Brunson scored 33 points, including a 3-pointer that capped the Knicks’ opening 23-point run — the largest in the NBA since detailed play-by-play for all four quarters began in 1997 — and New York beat the Utah Jazz 146-112.
Since Leon Rose took over the front office of the New York Knicks, a lot has gone right for the franchise. They are no longer the laughingstock of the NBA. Rose
