John Cena has heavily emphasized shining a spotlight on the future of the WWE and we now know the next step in making that happen.

John Cena has his final opponent. After a yearlong retirement tour and a 16-man tournament to decide who he would stand across from in his finale, it is complete. Gunther will be the man who gets the chance to retire one of the legends of the industry at Saturday Night's Main Event on Dec. 13.

SmackDown is taking place from the Moody Center in Austin, Texas tonight. As was already announced, the show will feature the Last Time is Now tournament finals between Gunther and LA Knight. Appearances by Cody Rhodes and Solo Sikoa have now been added to the card, along with two women’s division matches and a United States title open challenge.

Reigns and Rhodes were on the same WarGames team, and after they lost to the team made up of Bron Breakker, Bronson Reed, Brock Lesnar, Logan Paul and Drew McIntyre, there was a confrontation. A clearly frustrated Reigns stared Rhodes down and told him he would never team with him again.

In a year defined by high-profile farewells, a legendary figure has defied the trend by stepping back into the squared circle. Jushin Thunder Liger, the WWE Hall of Famer and New Japan Pro Wrestling icon, made a shocking return to competition at WrestleCade in Winston-Salem, North Carolina.

Genesis will take place on Saturday, January 17, 2026 from the Curtis Caldwell Center in Garland, Texas, a Dallas suburb. A pre-sale for tickets will be held on Tuesday, December 9, with tickets going on sale to the general public on Thursday, December 11. The event will be available on pay-per-view in addition to streaming on TNA Plus.

Early in the show, Paul Heyman delivered news of his team's fifth man for WarGames to Adam Pearce and Nick Aldis. Heyman had arrived earlier in the night with Bron Breakker, Bronson Reed, Logan Paul and Drew McIntyre. The fifth man was not revealed at the time, but Pearce rolled his eyes before saying, "This is going to be fun."

In a perfect world, Netflix and WBD create a harmonious balance of love and respect between WWE and AEW (fat chance) and open forbidden doors, allowing worlds to collide with dream matches between the top stars of both companies. There are so many dream matches we want to see when it comes to WWE vs. AEW thanks to the extensive talent on display.

On Dec. 13, John Cena will compete in his final-ever match, leaving a legacy as one of the most renowned but divisive WWE stars of all time.
