Hulk Hogan had dealt with leukemia before his death, according to medical records obtained by PEOPLE. Hogan, 71, died of acute myocardial infarction, commonly known as a heart attack, on Thursday, July 24.

It was meant to be a busy summer for Hulk Hogan, with a fast-growing beer company and new wrestling league to promote. Health issues, meanwhile, were plaguing Terry Bollea, the aging Tampa Bay resident who portrayed the globally-known icon.
