Out-of-control wildfires are ripping across parts of Los Angeles, leading to at least five deaths, burning down hundreds of buildings, and prompting more than 130,000 people to flee their homes in America's second-largest city.

The intense water demand resulting from the Palisades Fire has led Los Angeles to issue a boil water warning. The only zipcode impacted is 90272, and nearby North of Vicente. City officials have warned that the fires are leading to ash integrating into the water system and that further warnings could be issued .

The massive Palisades Fire broke out in Los Angeles on Tuesday afternoon, prompting mandatory evacuations affecting tens of thousands of people and highway closures. Later Tuesday, the Eaton Fire broke out in the foothills of Pasadena on the other side of Los Angeles County.

The stretch of Sunset Boulevard near the fire is lined with well-known venues and landmarks, including the TCL Chinese Theatre and Hollywood Bowl.

On Wednesday at 8:17 p.m. a red flag warning was issued by the NWS Los Angeles/Oxnard CA in effect until Friday at 6 p.m.

Multiple major fires are tearing through parts of the Los Angeles area, with 5 dead and a thousand structures destroyed.

The Los Angeles fire department is requesting back up from California, Nevada, Oregon and Washington to fight the growing wildfires.
