Jaden Schwartz netted a hat trick and goaltender Joey Daccord staved off a furious third-period push as the Seattle Kraken opened a long home stretch with a 4-2 victory against the Los Angeles Kings on Saturday night.
Kraken defenseman Josh Mahura lay down a booming, clean hit on Kings forward Warren Foegele at the Kraken blue line. While officials tried to keep two annoyed Kings players off Mahura, Schwartz and Beniers sneaked off on a 2-on-1. Schwartz scored his team-leading 15th goal of the season.
Schwartz put Seattle ahead 2-1 at 7:40, finishing off a 4-on-2 rush by scoring on a wrist shot from the right circle. Josh Mahura started the break by creating a turnover when he checked Warren Foegele in the defensive zone.
Kuemper stopped 18 of 21 shots in Saturday's 4-2 loss to the Kraken.
