The trade deadline has passed, and the Boston Bruins were quite busy this year. But this season, unlike the past seasons in Don Sweeney’s tenure, they were sellers, not buyers.

The Bruins' roster is looking a lot different following the NHL trade deadline, which saw Brad Marchand, Charlie Coyle and more dealt.

The Bruins were indeed sellers on Tuesday. The first shoe to drop in the trade deadline dealings for the B’s saw Trent Frederic and Max Jones heading to Edmonton in a complicated deal three-way deal with New Jersey.

In the opening 20 minutes, the Bruins made the Predators look like the team Nashville GM Barry Trotz thought he had assembled last summer when he sunk big money free agents Steven Stamkos, Brady Skjei and Jonathan Marchessault.

The Florida Panthers and Colorado Avalanche have loaded up for Stanley Cup runs. The Boston Bruins have thrown in the towel.

The Bruins stumbled around the Garden for 60 minutes and failed to pocket 2 points against a team that had won only 6 of its 30 road games.

In a season that never got on track for a variety of reasons, including the lackluster contributions of pricey free agents and injuries, the Bruins appear likely to make deals with an eye toward the future.
