CLEVELAND – Penn State junior Mitchell Mesenbrink was the star of the three-day NCAA Wrestling Championships at Rocket Arena. And a PSU true freshman who looks like a future star was honored for his aggressive efforts throughout the tourney.

Jax Forrest finished off his undefeated season — or semester, after enrolling at OSU midyear — with a 5-2 decision over second-seeded Ben Davino of Ohio State in the 133-pound NCAA wrestling title match Saturday night at Rocket Arena.

CLEVELAND – There was nothing particularly artistic about the 125-pound championship final between Penn State’s top-seeded Luke Lilledahl and Princeton’s 10th-seeded Marc-Anthony McGowan on Saturday night at Rocket Arena.

Penn State junior Shayne Van Ness, the top seed at 149, suffered his first loss of the season vs. Stanford No. 10 seed Aden Valencia in Saturday night's championship final in Ceveland. Valencia won 8-5 in overtime.

Penn State wrestling began Friday leading the team race. Cael Sanderson's team has eight competitors in the quarterfinal round, including seven No. 1 seeds.
