The Vietnam war remains one of the most wrenching of U.S. conflicts, as seen in a new Apple TV+ docuseries, 'Vietnam: The War That Changed America'

Frequently, and this may be an uncomfortable truth for many, the documentary works best when we are thrown into the action headfirst: as the Americans arrive on Vietnam’s sunny shores at the start of the war or when they flee in helicopters at the end of it.

Narrated by Ethan Hawke, the docuseries combines vivid footage of battles with interviews with people who fought on both sides of the decade-long conflict.

Apple TV+ is heading back to the war zone to unearth and recover the untold stories of the Vietnam War in "Vietnam: The War That Changed America." Over the course of six episodes, "Vietnam: The War Changed America" will feature first-account interviews with Vietnam War veterans as they recall their experiences fighting in the conflict and speaking on the dramatic impact it had in shaping the U.
