People are taking precautions as multiple wildfires cause poor air quality across a wide swath of Los Angeles County.

As levels of sooty air pollution have gone far too high across swaths of the Los Angeles area, people are taking adequate precautions—wearing masks, buying air purifiers, and staying indoors to protect from the toxic smoke—erupting from burning cars and houses to protect themselves from air pollution.

Already known for having some of the worst air quality in the U.S., people in Southern California are now also at risk of inhaling smoke.

The extreme fire conditions caused by a "life-threatening" windstorm have been deemed a "particularly dangerous situation," weather officials say.
