The Cleveland Browns legal challenge in federal court over its proposed move from downtown to Brook Park should be tossed out, the Ohio Attorney General’s Office and City of Cleveland argued on Wednesday.

The city has sued the team over the proposed move out of Cleveland to a domed stadium in Brook Park. The lawsuit arises under the Modell Law, which was enacted after the late Art Modell moved the Browns to Baltimore in 1996.

Cleveland filed a lawsuit against the Browns Tuesday accusing the team of violating the "Modell Law," a statute that allows locals to attempt to buy a relocating team within a six-month period before the team's relocation. The lawsuit seeks to stop the team from attempting to build a new domed stadium in the suburb of Brook Park.
