Sacramento will be honoring Martin Luther King Jr. Day with the 44th annual March for the Dream, starting Monday morning at City College.

King was assassinated by James Earl Ray on April 4, 1968, in Memphis, Tennessee. President Donald Trump, whose 2025 inauguration was the same day as MLK Day last year, released FBI documents about King’s assassination in July. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Day 2026 will be observed on Monday, Jan. 19.
