Rex Heuermann, suspected Gilgo Beach killer, appears in court for hearing on DNA evidence
RIVERHEAD, N.Y. -- Suspected Gilgo Beach serial killer Rex Heuermann is scheduled to return to court Wednesday on Long Island. The 61-year-old is charged with the murders of seven women dating back to the 1990s .

Heuermann is due back in court on February 18. His attorney, Michael Brown, continued to argue this type of DNA has never been used in a New York state court before, and it's not accurate. He also said his client is maintaining his innocence and pushing to separate the cases to get a fair trial.
The Suffolk County District Attorney commented on whether Rex Heuermann is being considered a suspect in unsolved cases.
