An armed man believed to be traveling from Indiana was shot by U.S. Secret Service agents near the White House after a confrontation early Sunday, according to authorities.

The US Secret Service has shot an armed man directly outside the White House grounds, the agency said yesterday. An “armed confrontation” took place directly outside the Eisenhower Executive Office Building in the White House’s West Wing shortly after midnight yesterday morning.
