Franklin County and almost two dozen other Ohio counties are under a winter weather advisory from midnight Thursday to 10 a.m. Friday as one to two inches of snow is expected to fall overnight and into the morning.

CLEVELAND, Ohio - Get ready for a snowy first weekend in 2025 as a Winter Storm Watch is in effect for much of Northeast Ohio from Friday through Sunday mornings. The National Weather Service’s forecast is calling for many areas to see 1-3 inches of snow to fall during the day Friday with another 2-4 inches possible Friday night.

While Ohio avoided a white Christmas in 2024, several rounds of snow are expected to hit Columbus in the coming days kicking off a wintery new year, according to the National Weather Service in Wilmington.

The potential for heavy bands of snow Friday "is greatest for areas east of Interstate 77," the National Weather Service warns.

Road crews across the bi-state are preparing for a mixed bag of winter weather conditions this weekend. The National Weather Service said the last few winters haven't brought a lot of snow to the bi-state but the storm system moving in this weekend could have a widespread impact that reaches the east coast.

The National Weather Service has issued a winter storm watch in effect from late Saturday night through Monday afternoon.

"There is a threat of significant icing over the northern half of Kentucky, mainly along and north of the Western Kentucky and Bluegrass Parkways," the NWS reported. Partly sunny with a high near 42 and west winds of 5 to 8 mph.
