PAW PAW, Mich. (WOOD) — Southwest Michigan native and former Detroit Tiger Charlie Maxwell has died at the age of 97. Maxwell, who called Paw Paw home, died Friday, according to his online obituary.

An All-Star outfielder for the Tigers, he tied a major league record with that feat on a Sunday (what else?) in 1959 playing against the Yankees in Detroit.
