The Krasheninnikov Volcano erupted on Sunday, Aug. 3, marking the volcano's first eruption in 600 years. The eruption may be linked to the massive earthquake that hit Russia less than a week earlier and caused tsunami warnings in multiple countries.

The overnight eruption of the Krasheninnikov Volcano in Kamchatka, its first in 600 years, may be connected to the huge earthquake that rocked Russia’s Far East last week, Russia’s RIA state news agency and scientists reported on Sunday.

The Russian Ministry cancelled its tsunami warning on Sunday, amid the first time volcanic eruption of the Krasheninnikov Volcano in 600 years and a 7.0 earthquake in the region.
