An investigation is underway after Monroe County officials say scammers are impersonating the sheriff’s office. District Attorney Mike Mancuso is warning that county offices have received multiple tips from residents reporting to have received calls from persons claiming to be from the sheriff’s office.

The caller said he was on his way to turn off the business's power if they didn't buy a Green Dot credit card to make a partial payment of $1,900, the sheriff said.
