The New York Knicks are facing off against Cooper Flagg and the Dallas Mavericks for the first time this season.

The top pick in this year’s NBA draft, Cooper Flagg is out Wednesday. He has averaged 15.5 points, 6.3 rebounds and 3.1 assists in 34 minutes per game.

New York Knicks All-Star Jalen Brunson returned to the lineup on Wednesday night against the Dallas Mavericks after sitting out two games with a Grade 1 ankle sprain. Brunson was hurt last Wednesday in a 124-107 home loss to Orlando.

The 52-year-old Kidd could've easily left Dallas in the offseason when the New York Knicks expressed interest in him to replace Tom Thibodeau. But the Hall of Fame guard stuck with the Mavericks. On Wednesday, before the Mavericks hosted the Knicks, he explained his decision.

The Mavericks denied New York permission to interview Kidd during the summer and later signed the head coach to a multi-year extension.
