A journalist and market data expert has suggested that Game Pass launches help boost PS5 game sales more than they help Xbox.

Former GamesIndustry.biz journalist Christopher Dring (now contributing to VGC again, you love to see it) says that one of the unexpected upsides to Xbox's Game Pass subscription service, at least for Sony, is that certain additions to the service can have a "strong impact" on PlayStation sales.

Xbox Game Pass subscriptions can give players an easy way to access tons of games, but it may result in a massive loss of actual game sales.

A report has come out that sheds light on revenue after a game is placed on Xbox Game Pass, and it suggests a title can lose "around 80% of its expected premium sales"

"Anecdotally, games that are in Game Pass can expect to lose around 80 percent of [their] expected premium sales on Xbox".

Microsoft announced its first wave of Xbox Game Pass games coming in January. Seven games total are coming to the subscription service, one of which is one of the most beloved and influential ARPGs of all time.
