Doc does give Marty several warnings (such as not interfering with the past, not divulging too much information about the future, etc); but no specific year is mentioned as a warning ever.

There's another possibility (which I have actually experimented with on a smaller scale): It's possible that '55 Doc hooked up a super-capacitor in parallel with the wire and ground, such that the strike was stored in the super-cap and would remain there until discharged by the car.

May 6, 2013 · I just watched the first movie of the trilogy (Back to the Future), and now I wondered, why does the Clock Tower still not work in 2015? From what I understand, in 1955 Doc and Marty pretty much built a lightning rod, so the clock should not be halted at the 10.04pm. Is this explained at any point?

Apr 20, 2016 · Doc had agreed to pick Clara up from the train station, so they would have met there had Marty not gone back in time. (One presumes that in this timeline, the ravine was still called Shonash, but it doesn't persist long enough for us to know for certain.)
