Apr 11, 2023 · Romans did actually have a salute, but it is rarely properly done in media; as it is often conflated with the fascist salute (Wikipedia also makes this mistake). The Roman salute is a representation of “giving your heart”. The hand was not thrust out, but offered. The arm is not extended entirely, but the elbow is slightly bent.
