This aerial video of the seafront road at Slapton in the South Hams shows the full extent of the damage caused by Storm Emma. The A379 which separates the sea and the shingle beach from the world-famous nature reserve at Slapton Ley was partly washed away. Easterly gales and spring tides combined to cause widespread damage all along the South Devon coast. Severe storms have destroyed part of a major coastal road in South West England, following days of heavy rain and powerful waves. 🚧 Incident details Part of the A379 road in Devon, linking Torcross and Slapton near Dartmouth, collapsed overnight. The road had already been weakened after three named storms – Goretti, Ingrid and Chandra. 🌧️ These storms caused widespread flooding, travel disruption and infrastructure damage across many parts of the UK, with the South West among the hardest hit.
