Umbrian Chickpea Soup, Primitive to the Bones

Last week while shopping I found a huge yellow melon for snack time. We were very excited to see what would be inside this time – some of us even thought it might be red like a watermelon! 🍉 With a little encouragement, everyone had a try and we discovered it was delicious. It was lovely to see the children exploring a new fruit, talking about what they thought might be inside, and sharing their thoughts with their friends. Trying new foods together helps build confidence, encourages curiosity

One of our friends said they wanted to make potions, so we set up a tray with white water, rose petals and sparkly red sequins. We added test tubes, jugs and mini cooking utensils to support their imaginative potion play. This experience supported Communication and Language through storytelling and new vocabulary, Physical Development through pouring and scooping, Understanding the World through exploring materials and changes, and Expressive Arts and Design through creative role play. #EYFS #Le
